The Keene Matchless Fife & Drum Corps, 1901, posing at the Diamond Match Company factory in Beaver Mills, a complex of mills in Keene, NH. Front: Ed Barrett, Archie Howard, drums; ____ Avery, drum major. Back, F.H. Tyler (my grandfather at age 18), Forest Hall, piccolos; Ben Symonds, bass drum. Beaver Mills was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. It had also housed manufacturing operations including a saw hill, grist mill, furniture mills, and a pail manufacturer.
