March 18, 1919. "Caruso and Muzio." Famed Italian tenor Enrico Caruso with the soprano Claudia Muzio in New York during his 15th year with the Metropolitan Opera and two years before his death. G.G. Bain Collection. View full size.
It seems some opera singers don't live long. Caruso died at 48 years and Ms Muzio at 47. It probably had something to do with their diet. You can't eat a heavy pasta meal at midnight and go to sleep at 1:30 in the morning. Essentially that is what they did, they pigged out after the performance and that's gonna kill you.
And Claudia is no frump either. Sad to think that she died aged 47, while Enrico himself succumbed to the effects of various invasive surgical procedures at 48.
"OK Miss Muzio, your test results are in. There seems to be a furry, doglike animal living in your hindquarters. I've seen this before".
What is it in the center of the table?
