Washington, D.C., circa 1918. "U.S. Department of Labor. Model with war poster." Our second glimpse of Gerrit A. Beneker at work. View full size.
I find it very interesting that the artist chose to add a rip to the farmer's undershirt on his right sleeve.
Beneker evidently slept through anatomy class.
Looks like Beneker eventually rethought the situation with the Goddess's right arm. Also note that in the photo, the eyes also hadn't been finished yet
The Goddess of Victory appears to be missing most of her right arm. Either that or she's scratching her back.
Where's the model with the angel wings?
Are the key to victory. Look at those zombie dead eyes of the painting. Yikes!
