Bodie, California, July 1962. Odd Fellows Hall and Miners Union Hall on Main Street looking north. View full size. Photograph by Ronald Partridge, Historic American Buildings Survey. Bodie, a mining camp ghost town on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada between Yosemite and Tahoe, is now a state historic park.
Bodie is also a National Historic Landmark, the highest listing in the federal historic preservation system.
My great-grandparents were married in Bodie in 1878, and I have a copy of my great-grandfather's deed to the lot he owned there.
I grew up in Bishop, CA. I remember taking school field trips to Bodie at least once a year. Imagine my surprise as a browsed through my RSS feeds and saw this lovely photo of Main Street!
I look forward to viewing more! Thanks.
Imogen Cunningham's son is Rondal, not Ronald. The HABS archive caption info gives this particular photographer's name as Ronald Partridge.
These photos of Ron's should also be accompanied by the comment that he was a twin son of Imogen Cunningham.
