10-cent Turkish bath in New York's Bowery district circa 1910. 8x10 glass negative, George Grantham Bain Collection, Library of Congress. View full size.
I think "disgust" is a little strong there pardner ... maybe you've got "other" issues to deal with. I think it's a great pic.
could I not!! have the naked guy rub me down with a porcupine or anything else for that matter!
The "porcupine looking thing on the massage table" is broom made of oak leaves, called a "platza" (Russian) or "besen" (Yiddish). It is used to scrub and massage the bather. Obviously, you have never been to a Russian-Turkish bath.
Hey, what do you want for 10 cents?
What's that porcupine looking thing on the massage table?
Actually the place looks like it's just been hosed out so maybe it is clean.
Is this a "bath house" Turkish bath?
Looks more like a torture chamber. It's filthy too.
