Arlington, Virginia, 1917. "U.S. Army motorcycle and sidecar at Fort Myer." Harris & Ewing Collection glass negative. View full size.
The sentry seems to be carrying an M91 Russian rifle. These were made here by New England Westinghouse and Remington for the Tsar and some of them got marooned here by the 1917 revolution. The US army Commandeered these and used them, along with Canadian Ross rifles for training. I have one of those made at the Remingtron Armory in 1917.
NOT being driven by Luella Bates, how uninteresting.
