The first slide from a batch of about 200 Kodachromes I got on eBay last week. I'm naming this collection after Linda, the young lady who features in many of them. This particular unlabeled slide shows Linda and (I guess) her mother around 1948. Linda's family seems to hail from New England. View full size.
This photo is another argument against the idea (intriguing though it was, in response to the "Tyke on Trike" photo in the "Linda Kodachromes" series) that little Linda had Moebius syndrome. In the photo above, the mother on the lounge chair has her fists on her hips in a way that strongly suggests she and Linda are having a comical exchange of glances.
I am not an historian of toys, except those I may once have possessed, but the rocking horse head visible in the foreground seems to be plastic, which might help to date the photo more precisely. Certainly toddler playwear, cushion style, and Mom's legs do not pin it down with any precision. Oh, wait! Are those Keds Mom's wearing?
We had a chaise like that when I was a very little girl, not much bigger than Linda. I have a picture of my father holding me and we're napping. The cushion on that chaise was so deep and soft, I remember it well.
Very nice details, especially in the rug. Hope all 200 are of like quality. I'm always tempted to buy these sets on eBay, but since you do it, I don't offer any competition to you. LOL Thanks.
Oh, I've forgotten, what scanner do you use with your chromes?
[Nikon 9000 ED. - Dave]
Most likely woven in the US.
Sigh.
Couldn't afford one like that today.
