I was born in early 1938 and lived with my Grandmother. She also had a big garden. I was about the age of that boy in 1939. This picture brings back a lot of pleasant memories.
I don't know if it was typical of farm wives at that time but she has a face which reflects strength but also the cares by which that strength was developed.
I like the way the grandson is positioned so you can compare him to the squash.
