Snowy New England circa 1949, and young Linda is doing her part to help dig out after the storm. But a girl can do only so much shoveling with a broom. Where's Mommy with that hot chocolate? 35mm Kodachrome slide. View full size.
Maybe not as young as this cutie pie but at an early stage of my life I was handed a shovel when the snow stopped and told to do it. There would have been the devil to pay if Dad came home from work and our front steps, walk and porch on our row home had not been cleaned. After that the backyard need a path to the alley so the garbage could be taken out --- also by me.
Possibly Linda was getting her first flying lesson.
I don't recognize what Linda is wearing. The uppers look like thick woolen socks. The way the snow is "clumped up" on the lower part with the same colors appearing through gives the appearance of woolen socks there also.
[I'd say you do recognize what she's wearing -- socks. - Dave]
