Fire sale at the Young Ladies Shop in 1922, probably in Washington, D.C. 4x5 inch glass negative, National Photo Company Collection. View full size.
These shops were replaced by the office building above the Metro Center subway station.
Washington Post, Jun 22, 1919
After extensive alterations, Sporkin & Greenberg, proprietors of the Young Ladies' Shop, 1217 G street northwest, will move into the four-story building at 1113 G street, which they have just leased for a long term of years. ... The new store will carry high grade line of ladies' and misses' coats, suits, dresses, skirts, waists and underwear.
Who wouldn't want to buy a young lady, especially on sale? They are so useful - cooking, washing, miscellany.
It looks like the young man leaning out the window above the shoppers is eyeing the the young lady underneath the awning...wonder if he was chitchatting with her?
