From around 1954, somewhere in New England, comes this unlabeled slide in our "Linda" series of Kodachromes found on eBay. The weather is crisp and so are the apples! View full size.
With those saturated colors, this easily could be on the set of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Trouble With Harry."

In 1954, I was 6 years old when I went apple picking up near Rome, New York. Apple picking in the fall became a yearly ritual for my two daughters, and now, being a grandfather, I revel in my annual fall apple/pumpkin picking trips with my two granddaughters.
Maybe that's how the expression "American as apple pie" got started.
Apparently it was located on Lake Fairlee in Vermont.
