Daughter of Carbondale attorney, judge, and banker Andrew Caldwell, would marry William McAndrew in 1931, the first athletic director at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, as well as its first football coach and, still today, its winningest basketball coach. During the depths of the Great Depression he managed to solicit enough funds ($150,000!) to construct the school's first dedicated football and track stadium. When he died in 1943, it was named McAndrew Stadium, and served the Salukis until four years ago when the new Saluki Stadium opened.

It looks like she has a set of identical twins! Actually, I wish we could see more of her dress! The dolls are cute, but I hope Miss Caldwell was able to have a family of flesh and blood children, at some point!

The bottom one looks like a comic character. I haven't tracked one down yet, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it might be Skeezix from Gasoline Alley, who first appeared in the strip as a baby in 1921.

Due to egregious misbehavior, Chuckie was left back in Carbondale to reflect on his sins.
