What gives "that down-in-Dixie flavor" was/is Phillips Delicious Soups, a Maryland company that marketed itself as a purveyor of Southern cuisine. They apparently are still in business.
[A good guess, but the ad is for Piedmont cigarettes, with a color scheme that was largely invisible to the emulsion used on this glass plate. - Dave]
