During my mother's childhood, the family had to pick up and move in the middle of the night several times because the Klan was on the way. My grandfather was a Cherokee married to a white woman. My mother, now 89 with a memory full of holes, still recalled one of those nights of terror just yesterday.She will never forget, nor should we.
When I see images such as these, my daydreams of living in the '20s change to nightmares.
