Washington, D.C., circa 1930. "Gibbs, Mrs. Malcolm." Maude Foote Gibbs, fiftyish wife of the People's Drug Store founder, modeling a very distant ancestor of the polka-dot bikini. Harris & Ewing Collection glass negative. View full size.
Maude Foote Gibbs should not be confused with her older sister, Ida Foote Gibbs. These two Foote sisters married two Gibbs brothers (lawyer Alexander Campbell Gibbs and pharmacist Malcolm Graham Gibbs), eight years apart.
Don't know what attacked the hair but boy, she's cute as can be for 50 something !!
Clearly this is a woman who does not want to believe the 1920s are over.
