My grandparents bought their home in Moline, Illinois, in 1921: seven rooms and bath, wraparound porch and generous (although not that generous) yard for $2,500. And there was still a mortgage on it in the 1930s when the New Deal policies enabled them to keep it. The house sold for around $10,000 in 1963.
The average US Wage in 1921 was about $3000. That makes that house quite affordable
The house at this address is estimated at $918,000 today.
What is that structure at the back, seen between the right hand side of the house and the tree?
Upon closer inspection it appears that the contraption in the side yard is a metal framed lawn swing. A scaffold would have been more practical for the needed roof repairs.
Needs work on the roof and front steps. Comes with hobby horse in side yard.
Godzilla stopped by. Apparently he was a bit peckish and had a nosh on a tree.
