Is this the same Tim O'Sullivan who helped photograph the Civil War, and later did the surveying photographs of the West? Those broad surfaces take the light in the same way as the Indian cliff dwelling.

Among all the great photos, THIS one is special. 1865? the detail of those old plates is stunning. it's like a direct peephole into the past. (somehow more so than all the other peepholes on the site).
