Looks like a swell little town, if you ask me:
The May 30, 1943 Athens (OH) Messenger reported that the Gallia County Victory Fund Committee would be presented the next day with a "quota flag," to be flown below the United States flag on the pole in the Public Square in Gallipolis, to honor the City for exceeding its quota in the recent loan drive. There was to have been a musical pageant as well, but for undisclosed reasons it was moved to Flag Day two weeks later.
As someone who works with all airmen and women, I proudly say, thank you, and thank you again for your sacrifice and service all.
May we never forget what has to be given in order to be free.
