Minneapolis circa 1910. "Hotel Radisson and Seventh Street." The start of today's multinational lodging conglomerate, named after the 17th-century French explorer Pierre-Esprit Radisson. 8x10 inch dry plate glass negative. View full size.
. . .Mary Tyler Moore would throw her hat into the air at that very intersection.
The original Radisson was opened in 1909, closed in 1981, and razed in 1982(I watched the demolition.) The new hotel opened in 1987.
The new Radisson is actually the same old innards with with an 80s façade.
Rather a different vibe than the current decorations in that area.
But only Dayton's(now Macy's) remains from the 1910 photo. It's to the left behind the skyways.
Probably the original Dayton's Department Store as well - parent company of Target.
