Paris, France. circa 1918. "Sample Red Cross rolling kitchen, ready to travel. On exhibition at the Grand Palais." 5x7 glass negative. View full size.
Can anyone make out the last two words of the sign on the wall, just left of the wagon?
The sign begins with "Never spit in the . . ." which might be better translated as "Don't spit . . . ."
Without the two words and some context, it's hard to know whether this was the way the French wrote generic prohibitions ("Don't spit on the sidewalk") or if there was some particular danger requiring stronger language ("Never spit into a jar of pure Cesium").
["No spitting in living quarters." - Dave]
