Columbus, Georgia, circa 1953. "How Mother lost her finger." (There was no caption here, so we made one up.) 4x5 inch acetate negative. View full size.
I'm thinking from the wrinkles that this is Grandma, and Grandpa took the picture of three of his favorite pas=times--grandson, baseball and Grandma. You've got to appreciate a woman who is tough enough to play baseball in heels and a dress, and five will get you ten she's also smart enough to know where little boys will swing that bat.
[These are not family photos. They were taken by a newspaper photographer. - Dave]
Got it--given the cuteness on all fronts, I still hope Grandpa got to see and enjoy it.
