Call me crazy, but I read nightmarish. And isn’t that Prince Albert in a can behind the door insulated with cardboard?
Many of the photos to be found on this website show a rural America of modest means in isolated environments. I suspect a Sear catalog was their only contact with the "outside" world.
Perhaps WWII was as much a cultural change as an economic or political force. And this was life not long before many of us were born.
Just wondering.
