September 1940. "San Juan County Courthouse. Silverton, Colorado." Medium format acetate negative by Russell Lee for the Farm Security Administration. View full size.
It still stands. It was designed by architect James Murdoch and built in 1908. San Juan is a mountainous county and has the smallest population of any in Colorado and this structure must really stand out there. There's some colour photos I've seen of the mountains behind it in the springtime and it is a lovely place.
