Possibly Indianapolis, circa 1952. Set 2 of found 35mm Kodachromes. At right is the boy from Dancing Queen. At left: Technicolor cuffs. View full size.
I have that same desk. My mom bought it for me from a junk man in the 1960s. For years I thought it was a dresser with the mirror missing but there is no markings where a mirror had been attached. I wish I had that chair.
It looks as if they are trying to hide their fingers. Notice the pencil the middle one is holding. Must have been spring or fall because they are still wearing cold weather clothes. I vote for fall because the jeans look fairly newish.
Ah, I wonder if someone with time and diligence could prowl around the neighborhoods of Indianapolis and--with an eye for the house across the street--figure out where this is; then its 1952 owners could be identified.
As to the flannel-lined jeans: I got a pair of these (L. L. Bean's, sure enough) for Christmas last year, and love 'em to death....lots of snow got shoveled in them in the months following.....
That ill-fitting cardigan is pretty funny. I can imagine his mother forcing him to wear it so he wouldn't "catch his death."
Some of us grown ups who live in NH still buy flannel lined jeans from LL Bean. My husband wears them to shovel snow..... They also make flannel lined tan and green ones in case you want to be fashionable.
My dad remembers wearing those flannel lined jeans. Other than the high waists, they look just like clothes you can buy for little boys today. The little guy looks like he could use a bigger cardigan.
Doesn't the boy on the left look like he could be a lifesize cardboard cutout?
You can tell these guys aren't comfy posing. I'd almost forgotten about those jeans with the flannel plaid lining. The youngest one seems to have a lot of personality--not entirely comfortable with this but with one hand jauntily in his pocket. I'd have to run away from home to escape that wallpaper, though.
