Washington Heights in New York City, 1912. "American League Park (Hilltop Park)." View full size. 5x7 nitrate negative, George Grantham Bain Collection.
Wow! General admission 50 cents , Grandstands 75 cents!
It's amazing to see all the men dressed in coat and tie to go to a ball game. Even the boy with the mitt has a tie.
Interesting picture, obviously Hilltop Park preceded Yankee Stadium. The Highlanders preceded the Yankees. The boy with the baseball fielders glove preceded the millions of kids that have gone to professional baseball games bringing their mitts in hopes of snagging a ball hit into the stands. I wonder if they were allowed to keep the ball in those days?
