I agree with sjmills except to say that in this situation I'm guessing the girls were supposed to look like dolls. Hence the stiffness of their arms and the painted-on pouts.

Ack. That paint-your-lips-to-look-tiny-and-pucker-up trend of the early 20th century was so ugly. Why'd they think that small baby lips looked good on women? It's second in unattractiveness only to the overinflated lips like they do these days. I have nothing positive to say about it.
