Electrical circuits and motors at Howard University in Washington, D.C., circa 1925. View full size. National Photo Company Collection glass negative.
Switches, dials, motors and wire! This would definitely be "geek heaven" today. I can only hope that these three students were able to utilize their knowledge of electro-mechanics in their work lives after graduation. Very interesting photo indeed.
Can you imagine the OSHA and insurance guys when they get a look at the exposed terminals on those transformers and knife switches? Open frame motors begging to get at those neckties or carelessly handled tools. I bet it was fun though.
My daughter reports that her fellow engineering students have an unfortunate affinity for plaid. These men bring HOT to engineering. Does anyone know who they are? I love these photo glimpses into people's lives- but then I want to know what happened to them.
I would love to walk into a locked room and find these relics still in working order and get to play with them... Wow factor 10
