Maybe the the commenter thinks "segregated" means "didn't allow black people." The word "segregate" means to keep separate.
It was a mixed bag - Garfield was not segregated, however. See this link.

The flyswatter is a scream. My wife worked in the infection control department of a hospital and I can't wait to send her the pic. The lack of gloves is also a great indicator of different times.
