This appears the be the opposite view of the rail yards from Capitol Hill looking southwest and in the distance one can see the engine barns of the rail yards with their long roofs and ventilator structure. Also can be seen lightning rods protecting several chimneys. These were fairly common and go back to the time of Benjamin Franklin as he is considered the American inventor in the mid 1700s.
Interesting that the chimney partially covers upper floor window.
I wonder if the chimey on that side of the house was not part of the original
construction...
