I cannot get past the idea that these were some sort of French clowns. In pictures of European circuses guys like this were usually listed as French clowns. I think their pants were pure linen and one cannot possibly press the wrinkles out. If these were not clowns, they must have been wearing some sort of "rowing club" uniform. In any case, they make me very uncomfortable.
Looks like our heroes have been sleeping in those slacks for a few days.
(But in more recent times, Mr. P. W. Herman has significantly raised the bar when it comes to snappy attire.) I wonder if these guys are headed off to a Big Adventure, or whether they just got back from one?
Too bad they couldn't get the belts to match...
