Washington, D.C., circa 1910. "Congressional apartment house, East Capitol Street." National Photo Company Collection glass negative. View full size.
The courthouse happens to be the US Supreme Court Building.
I wonder if those boys have been racing that streetcar.
What a great idea to put a cafe in a large apartment building. I don't think that's done much anymore -- at least not here in the Midwest.
Was it built to house member of Congress (and maybe their families)? Or is Congress looking for a bit of rental income on the side? Or just a name?
[The building was across the street from the Capitol, hence the name. - Dave]
Looks to be one really huge roof garden; could hold every tenant and a close friend! Hope it's still there!
[Replaced by a courthouse. - Dave]
