Dissection room, American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Circa 1936. View full size. American Colony of Jerusalem Photo Dept.
Dave, did you see my comment under Anatomy Class 1905? Well, this 1936 photo, while 30 years before my experience, is not very much different.....we had no gloves, never a thought of them, no masks (would have been nice). Amazing that 30 years later anatomy lab in the USA was so similar to Beirut.

[Yes, amazing. Back when I was a student at the UF College of Dentistry in the early 1980s I took Gross Anatomy (hi, Dr. Larkin). I remember that formaldehyde smell and how the fumes made my eyes water. We did have gloves. Also a big green plastic watering can from Sears, with a flower on it, that we used to moisten the cadavers at the end of each class. - Dave]
Not a latex glove in sight... Better wash up before lunch break!
[We thought we'd eat in the lab today. Now what looks good? - Dave]
