Easter, 1970. My niece and nephews decked out in their Easter finery and other requisite accouterments. For extra points, pick out the wiseguy. Hint: It's not the Easter Bunny. Scanned from my sister's Kodacolor negative. View full size.
I remember in th 1960's having to wear white gloves with my Easter Bonnet.
Jimmy's outgrown his pants again.
SOMEWHERE I have a photo of me in my Easter outfit when I was ... 5, I think. Purple velvet dress, bright yellow tights and my little hat with fuzzy bees swarming around tiny flowers. I am standing dangerously close to the blossoming apple tree with my flowery bee hat (and horrifyingly bad Toni Home Perm).
It was taken just minutes before the terrible Cream Soda Incident of 1961 (nostrils ... soda ... the horror) and 50-odd years later, I still cannot stomach the taste of Cream Soda.
And I have to say that I was NEVER good at finding the eggs.
My brother and sister always found the good ones (Marshmallow Cream, O Henrys, caramel and nuts) They would rehide the Cherry cream ones because they were gross and I was always stuck with those. AND they would have to "find" again them for me.
I couldn't help but notice the meager goodies in those Easter baskets when compared to the ones I saw today at Wal Mart. Those 3 youngsters also seem pleased as punch with what they have with those smiles for miles.
I bet if you gave one of those 1970 Easter baskets to some child in 2010, they'd probably be on the phone to child protective services pronto!

I'm gonna plotz from all the cute in this picture - love the glasses on the little fellow and I bet that tall one is still a barrel of laughs ;) Thanks tterrace for more childhood memories! (I am 50 and still have my first easter basket - good times!)
So .... what did these kids grow up to be? Do they have kids of their own?
Great shot! The wiseguy is in the check sport coat.

Fine picture. Just in time, Easter soon.
The wiseguy is the tall and lanky charmer on the far right. What Easter bunny could refuse such an expression of mirth and a possible chocolate overdose?
