My grandfather worked for the Seaboard Air Line. He was a railroad policeman and was killed in a depot robbery at Esom Hill, Georgia, in 1931.
Along with his picture, there is a picture of his Seaboard Air Line badge.

Seaboard Air Line operated trains all over the Southeast including a run to Miami. After mergers and remergers, the tracks are still there.
"Air Line" was a common metaphor for the shortest distance between two points -- a more direct route than the competition.
