Washington, D.C., circa 1910. "Georgetown University football team, Healy Hall." Harris & Ewing Collection glass negative. View full size.
Healy Hall, Georgtown University.
Their record that year was 7-1-1
Records are often made, compared, broken and argued about, but if this is the whole football team, there's no comparison at all to the behemoths that play college football today and the teams of years ago. I don't know if anyone in the photo is even close to 200 lbs., but I bet they were a scrappy and well toned lot!
to say that these guys are natural looking, rugged, and handsome, even if a little bit like ragamuffins!
And those silly posing statues peeking out from either side of the doorway seem to think that they are something to write home about, as well!
Quite a few brooding and very handsome young bucks here. I wonder what happened to them all. I'm sure there were many broken hearts left in their wake.
Growl for the camera boys! Come on, look serious. Kowalski, you on the right! Get that smirk off your face!
Put aside your gridiron dreams, young man, and consider your fallback career. Those granite gargoyles are ripe (pardon the expression) customers for something newfangled like stick deodorant!
