Remember how matted up shag carpet eventually got? Somebody I knew had some knotted up orange like that. Thank goodness that style went away.
OMG, we had that same carpet! Green in the living areas and red in our bedrooms. This would have been the very early 70's, Mom had it installed new!! YUCK! is the correct comment!
As starving students, we lived in an apartment that had olive green and turquoise shag carpeting--mixed in ONE rug. To top it off the linoleum was ORANGE. Blech!
I had this carpet in my first college apartment circa 1980. The carpet dated back to around 1972. Each apartment came with a plastic rake for fluffing the shag. Which was red. It turned all my white socks pink.
How many times did Ma Bell have to come out and repair the chewed-through phone cord? Your description of the nasty green shag carpet allowed my imagination to 'colorize' the picture in my mind; result: Yuck! A great pet photo!
